K093. Did Jesus say, "Repent .. repent .. repent ..?"

Although Jesus did not say it continuously, he did say it repeatedly to show us that He would never stop saying it. Of course, He said 'Repent' more than three times; however, we can categorize the times when He said it into three major important 'times':

1. "Repent" - at the beginning of His ministry The first time He said it was when He first started to preach:
Mat 4:17 KJV  From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

2. "Repent" - at the end of His ministry The second time was when He was about to be taken up in a cloud and He expected all His disciples to preach it in His absence until He will come again:
Luk 24:45-52 KJV  Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures ..  (47)  And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ..  (51)  And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.  (52)  And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy..

3. "Repent" - before His judgement of the churches The last time He said it was at the end time in the book of Revelation 3 and He would expect all His churches to have repented:
Rev 3:19-22 KJV  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.  (20)  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me ..  (22)  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Where is He now? He is still standing at the door and knock. He is now speaking, "Repent". He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto churches. So no one can say that repentance is obsolete.

We can say that repentance is so important that no one should die without knowing it. If Jesus died to tell His twelve disciples to preach it in His name and, then, lives to tell His last disciple John to ask the churches in Rev 2-3 to repent, repentance is something that He would want all of us to know and believe. He would not only want us:
- to know and believe in Him who is God's ONLY begotten Son and sacrifice for our sins;
- but also to know and believe in repentance which is His ONLY word, doctrine, and gospel for the sinners.
It is the gospel that Paul preached. It is still the gospel that we preach today. We must still know and believe in both::
1. God's sacrifice - this is the part which God must do and provide, and we can do nothing about it.
2. and Repentance - this is the part which we must do, and we can never ask God to do it for us
