Many people have asked the above question. They said, "Many God's preachers preach the grace of God too. Don't you think that all God's preachers are radical grace preachers ?" I will tell them, No, not everyone is a radical grace preachers just because he preaches grace. It is not difficult to know who are the radical grace preachers even if they try to hide their 'radical' intention by preaching the laws of God or repentance occasionally.
Only the radical grace preachers would always like to say that others have misunderstood them or falsely accused them. Ironically they are the one who would want to be misunderstood and would deliberately do anything to confuse others. They argue that if we do not preach grace radically until we are misunderstood like them, we have not preached the gospel that Paul preached.
- Rom 5:20 KJV Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: ... Rom 6:1-2 KJV What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? (2) God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
- Firstly, Paul did not tell us to preach the gospel until everyone is confused - Paul said, "God forbid" in Rom 6:2. It means that he would not allow anyone to preach the gospel like a license to sin or like some kind of confusion or oxymoron.
- Paul believed in teaching sound doctrine (1Ti 1:10, 2Ti 4:2-3) - Please think, If the false preachers were to preach fake grace, license to sin, or mind changing oxymoron, so much so that the preaching of repentance become misunderstood as the preaching of condemnation or obsolete doctrine of Christ, will you still preach like them too ? No. Paul would never want us to preach like them.
- Paul knew that false prophets would come and pervert God's doctrine (Act 20:29-31, Jud 1:4) - Obviously you have preached Rom 5:20 - Rom 6:1-2 out of its context to the advantage of the false preachers who will turn against the churches and accuse them for misunderstanding grace, condemning grace, or preaching against grace. Many false preachers would claim that they are the believers of 'radical grace'; but unknown to many, they are actually false prophets who would preach any kind of doctrine in the name of 'grace'.
- Paul would never want us to preach the things of God until it is misunderstood - 2Ti 1:6-7 KJV Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. (7) For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. I will tell them, You said that "we should preach grace or the goodness of God until people misunderstood us for preaching license to sin, because where sin abounds, grace would abound even more. It may show people that grace would abound and become more radical but it would be more effective too." If this is true, can we preach sound doctrine until people misunderstood us too, because where false doctrine abounds, sound doctrine would abound even more ? No, God forbid. We do not preach sound doctrine until it is is misunderstood as radical doctrine, lawless doctrine, or license to sin, that it will abound even more. If sound doctrine is preached until it is misunderstood, it would no longer be sound doctrine. Similarly, if grace is preached until it is misunderstood, it is no longer the grace of God.
When Paul said, God forbid - it means a clear commandment not to live in sins, a commandment not to sin with grace, and a commandment to still honour our parents with grace:I will tell them, If you always preach the gospel or grace until it is misunderstood, you will not help the people to find true assurance of salvation. Instead they will still feel condemned because of sins. You may preach the 'gospel' every Sunday with much assurance of 'radical grace' or 'no condemnation'. But your 'gospel' that has been preached with too much of misunderstanding can only give them some temporal relief. When they are back and still find that they are condemned because of sins, they will just want to metanoia or misunderstand the gospel, instead of repenting.
- Eph 6:2-3 KJV Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) (3) That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
- Rom 13:9-14 KJV For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. ..(13) Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. (14) But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
- It is still a commandment to obey the ten commandment too.
How do we know who are the radical grace preachers?
Radical grace preachers would always say, "Many people from the churches have misunderstood us. They misunderstood the gospel of grace or our gospel revolution. They are so afraid that, when we are not under the law, we would become lawless. They tell us that when you do not have the law, you become lawless. That's the accusation from the devils ..
We have never preached against God's laws but we would preach that no one can keep God's laws. This is what Jesus told me from the following Bible verses:
- Jesus told the Pharisees in Mat 5:28 "that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart".
- Jesus said to the rich young ruler in Luk 18:18-25 when he boasted in the law, "One thing you lack .."
I will tell them, No, you are the one who have misunderstood us. We are just describing it plainly. For example, if we see a preacher who has no hair, how should we describe him ? You may say, He is a 'bald preacher'. However, I would think that he should not feel offended if we described him as a 'hairless preacher' too. It is just a unique identify we used to differentiate him from the many preachers in a crowded room. No offence. Hence, I would describe him as a 'word-less preacher' if he has no more word or a 'lawless preacher' if he has no more law too. No offence. I don't mean that he is a bad preacher or wicked preacher who did more lawlessness than the rest of us. After all, we are all lawless in the eyes of God because we are all sinners who have transgressed against God's laws (1Jn 3:4). It doesn't matter if we know 'who is more lawless than who'.
Of course, a 'hairless preacher' who feels offended can always argue, "How can you accuse us for being hairless ? The right word you used should be 'bald', not 'hairless'. Give us 10 reasons why you said that we are 'hairless' and we can prove you wrong because we are not ashamed to show you how hairy we are on all parts of our bodies. Haha .." Similarly, I find it ridiculous for a 'lawless preacher' who feels offended to argue in the same way, "How can you accuse us for being lawless ? The right word you used should be 'antinomian', not 'lawless'. Give us 10 reasons why you said that we are 'lawless' and we can prove you wrong by showing how many laws, principles, and rules we have preached 'graciously' in most of our grace teaching. Haha .." I will tell them, We would think that you are 'hairless' if you have no more hair on your heads, or 'lawless' if you have no more laws in your heads too. We do not need to look at other parts of your bodies. I am not a Bible scholar. And I do not need to argue like one. It doesn't matter if you can prove me wrong with your right word or right argument. The important thing is what kind of impression you give to God and the people ? God is not only concerned with what you preach with your words; but also with what you preach with your hearts. If you have no more law in your hearts and mind, you are indeed a lawless preacher, no matter how well you can preach and argue with your words, principles, or even laws (Heb 8:12, 10:16).
All sinners are lawless in the eyes of God
I will tell them, You said that we have misunderstood you when you preached "no more laws". I will say, No, you are the one who have misunderstood Jesus (and us who preach His words). The teaching of Jesus is not to have no more laws in your mind but to have Him and His laws all the more in your lives. Jesus was giving the rich young ruler a sincere invitation to accept Him as the Commandment or the Word of God in his life. It was not a cruel test or a hardsaying to push him or all the sinners to the end of themselves so that they will believe only in grace (and Jesus) and reject any God's laws. Jesus would not need to do so because:
- Jesus knew that all the sinners have transgressed against God's laws. It would not make sense to ask those who had already transgressed against God's laws or rejected God's laws to reject God's laws again. 1Jn 3:4 KJV Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
- Jesus did not speak those words in Mat 5:28 and Luk 18:18-25 to the law preachers, Pharisees, or hypocrites; but he spoke those words to His disciples (in the sermon on the mount) and the rich young ruler who were sincere in finding the way of life. Please read the following Bible verses again. Do you think that Jesus had pushed Peter and all His disciples to the end of themselves to reject God's laws too, when Jesus asked them to give up everything to follow Him ?
- Luk 18:18-30 KJV And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? ... (22) Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me. (23) And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. (24) And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! (25) For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. (26) And they that heard it said, Who then can be saved? (27) And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God. (28) Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. (29) And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, (30) Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting. (Peter had received the same invitation from Jesus. Can we say that it was a cruel test and hardsaying for anyone who would keep God's laws and commandments ? No, this is ridiculous.)
- Mar 10:17-30 KJV And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life? .. (21) Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. (22) And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions. (23) And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God! ... (28) Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. (29) And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, (30) But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. (This another Bible passage about the rich young ruler who was given the 'loving' invitation (v21) to follow Jesus. Hence, I don't think we can conclude that the invitation of Jesus here is to tell us not to keep any commandments, but just to believe in Him only and do nothing.)
Jesus would never want all His disciples to be lawless because of Him
I will tell them, If you insist that the words of Jesus were hardsayings to push the sinners or the lawless to the end of themselves, yes, you may have a point; but the ultimate point or the full picture is to push them to the end of themselves
- to know that they are sinners,
- to know that they need to repent,
- to know that there is life in the words, sayings, laws, and commandments of God
- Mat 19:17 KJV And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
- Joh 6:63-69 KJV It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (64) But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. (65) And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. (66) From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. (67) Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? (68) Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. (69) And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
- Joh 14:21-24 KJV He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: .. (23) Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. (24) He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
- Joh 15:10-12 KJV If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. (11) These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. (12) This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
- Rev 22:13-14 KJV I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. (14) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
- to know that there is a need to teach God's laws and His words, and
- to know that no one is too righteous to repent
- Mat 5:17-21 KJV Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (18) For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. (19) Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (20) For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven. (21) Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: (Jesus did not say that we should be as righteous as the Pharisees, but He said we should be more righteous than the Pharisees who were hypocrites. In another words, 1. All the Jews must still repent even though they thought that they were as righteous as the Pharisees, 2. All of us, who are now in Christ should never follow the deceivableness of unrighteousness (2Th 2:10) that is in the Pharisees or hypocrites too.)
Jesus did not say that He would give no more laws to the believers
They will say, "No, we still think that when Jesus gave the laws to the Pharisees (in Mat 5:28) and the rich young man (in Luk 18:18-25), He did not gave them the laws to justify them; but to convict them of their sins and to show them that they need only more grace instead of more repentance, more laws keeping, or more good works."
I will tell them, Of course, we cannot use the laws to justify any people. But that does not mean that the sinners have no more need for repentance (Mat 9:13, Luk 24:45-47) or that God's people have no more need for God's laws (Heb 8:10, 10:16).
- Mat 9:13 KJV But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
- Luk 24:45-47 KJV Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, .. (47) And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
- Heb 8:10 KJV For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
- Heb 10:16-18 KJV This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; (17) And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. (18) Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin.
Please think, If you rebel and preach something else to convince the thinking of the people to have no more law, what are you trying to do ? Do you think that you are putting the laws of God into the hearts and mind of the people ? No, you are putting 'lawlessness' or 'no more laws' into their mind. You have shown yourselves to be another 'God' who would instead put 'no more laws' into their mind. You have become the lawless ones not because you do much lawlessness or sin lawlessly; but because you preach lawlessness, boast in your craftiness for lawlessness, trade lawlessness against the laws of God, and recruit more lawless preachers in the name of a 'lawless' God. You have preached yourselves happy with a lawless covenant. Please think, If you preach your own covenant which has no more law, no more repentance, no more commandments, and no more judgement, are you sure you will not be judged ? No. I don't think there is any remission of sins. I don't think we can misunderstand God too if we have His words.
What is the cause when there is always misunderstanding ?
I would say that many different 'versions' of explanation would cause much misunderstanding and confusion. If people would always misunderstand us or falsely accuse us, something is obviously wrong with us or with our teachings. There is nothing to be proud of. Yes, we may always blind ourselves and keep thinking that we have preached like Paul and hence we can console one other that we have been falsely accused by others. Yes, it is easy to dismiss all the challenges and questions from others as false accusation, condemnation, or misunderstanding, and use it to rally 'sympathy votes' from the blind majority who may never read their Bible with an enlightened heart or sound mind, but I think we should all be sensible, humble, and honest enough, to ask the question, "What if we have preached the wrong things because we have been deceived ? Can we be deceived if we are not diligent ? Are we told to be diligent or to beware ? Can we fall because of wrong teaching, wrong thinking, wrong motive, or wrong doctrine ?" If we are honest, we would say, "Yes, amen." It is not a condemnation answer if we admit wrong and tell people that we may have heard the wrong voice and confused others, instead of trying hard to revise, revamp, or recycle more and more oxymoron doctrines to patch and cover our back and to impress others that we are very anointed preachers ! No, this would cause more confusion and frustrate those who were misled to argue with the churches after listening to your first 'version' of doing nothing doctrine or radical grace doctrine; but now they are helpless because you have made them look like fools after you have come out with your second 'version' or third 'version' of your radical doctrines.
It is much better to lose something and repent rather than losing our soul and reign
Jesus said, It is better to 'lose face' or any part of our body if we want to enter the kingdom of heaven. Of course, He did not mean it literally; He meant it figuratively but seriously for the sinners to repent and to change, especially for those who have preached 'oxymoron' doctrines with the hidden motive to gain popularity by confusing others and then later accusing them as the accusers or law preachers who would always accuse like the Pharisees.
In fact, Jesus did not want us to build any 'amputation theatre' when He said in Mat 5:19-23 that it is better for us to cut ourselves or amputate our hands. But He said those words to the disciples because He wanted them to have a truly circumcised heart through repentance, conviction, and 'divine surgery' from the Holy Spirit. Of course, if we read Mat 5:19-23 again with a sincere heart, we would know that He would never tell us that therefore there is no more need to keep any law or commandment; no, He wanted us all to repent and keep God's commandments with a 'circumcised' heart under His teaching, His New Covenant, and His grace.
Please do not mix oxymoron doctrine with the basic fundamental doctrine
I will tell them, You can't forever tell people that they have misunderstood you when you would keep changing, patching, and explaining your radical doctrines. There will be a time when you have confused so many people and become so confused yourselves that you need to go back to the basics and explain yourselves again and again in a cycle, for eg.
- To pray or not to pray
- To repent or not to repent
- To keep God's commandments or not to keep God's commandments
- To obey or not to obey
- To work or not to work
- To have the faith of God or your own faith
- To teach or not to teach
- To serve as servants or to reign like kings
- To preach mixture or to preach pure doctrine
- To romance the 'stone' or to balance the 'stone'
- To preach eternal judgement or to preach no condemnation
- To ...
- Heb 5:11-14 KJV Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. (12) For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. (13) For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. (14) But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil ... (6:1) Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, (2) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (3) And this will we do, if God permit. (The Hebrew writer has written a total of six principles of the doctrine of Christ here. Many of us could have been misled to think that repentance was not important because it was dead works. However, if you read Heb 6:1 again, it is the foundation of repentance from dead works, not foundation of dead works. Hence, repentance can never be foundation of dead works. Probably you may ask again, Why was grace not mentioned in the principles of the doctrine of Christ above? I believe that grace is considered as part of the foundation of repentance too because true repentance will lead to grace. For brevity and easier understanding, the Hebrew writer has summarized it under the appropriate main fundamental principle. I don't think we should dispute about it.)
- of repentance from dead works and sins,
- of faith,
- of the doctrine of baptism,
- of laying of hands,
- of resurrection of the dead, and
- of eternal judgement,
- 2Jn 1:6-10 KJV And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it. (7) For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. (8) Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. (9) Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. (10) If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
- 1Jn 4:6 KJV We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error ..
Can we keep all others under confusion or misunderstanding forever ?
But they will argue, "It is ok to be misunderstood by others. After all, we are not perfect. Your pastors are still learning and they could make mistakes too. Won't you forgive them for all their mistakes ? Do you know how many times, you must forgive others ? Jesus said, 'Seventy times seven times' in . Anyway, Paul had always been misunderstood by the Pharisees and others too. They accused Paul for preaching grace as the license to sin. Hence, the more we are misunderstood by others, the more we are showing to the people that we are preaching the grace of God. If you have never preached the gospel until all people, especially the Pharisees and legalistic people, have misunderstood you, you have not really preached the true gospel or the gospel that Paul preached .."
I will ask them, So, are you saying that all the churches, who did not preach until they have confused everybody, have preached the wrong gospel ? This is ridiculous. If we have to preach until all the people have misunderstood us, we may also have misled them too. Please think, If most of the believers have been misled to think that grace is license to sin, the sinners would be more misled to think so. Hence, we should do more sound teaching to prevent it from happening than multiply more confusion and misunderstanding:
- 2Ti 4:2-5 KJV Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. (3) For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; (4) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (5) But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
- Mat 18:21-34 KJV Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? (22) Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. (23) Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants. .. (32) Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me: (33) Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee? (34) And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
a. justification by faith or by grace is only the beginning of a believer's forgiven life so that he can do more with the words and commandments of God in his life. The grace for cancellation of debts or forgiveness of debts is not given so that we can have more future debts or more future lawlessness. It is certainly not an excuse or license to have more future sins with no more repentance (or to sin wilfully).
- Luk 13:2-10 KJV And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? (3) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (4) Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? (5) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (6) He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. (7) Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? (8) And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: (9) And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. (10) And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.
b. Grace is not forever - it is given for the purpose of repentance, turning back to God's commandments, keeping God's laws, and doing His words. Grace is not given for the purpose of enjoying or living in lawlessness forever. Grace is not there forever if we are forever lawless in our hearts or minds. However, if we repent, keep the commandments of God, and live with the laws of God in our hearts and minds, God will remember all our lawlessness no more and He will be our God forever:
Hence, the cancellation of debt or forgiveness of debt is not given so that a believer can have more future debt or lawlessness forever. It is certainly not an excuse or license to have more future sin or lawlessness without any repentance. However, many preachers have deceived the believers into thinking that they can literally expect forgiveness of all their future sins, and even supernatural cancellation of all their future financial debts, if they will just radically believe or do and teach their 'holy communion's blood cleansing' ritual, 'pure grace' confession, 'supernatural' favour, 'mind changing' philosophy, or 'false repentance' to disregard and to 'repent' from all the laws and commandments of God. I did write about some preachers who have managed to quote the Bible out of context and capitalise on this 'supernatural' deception or 'cancellation of debts' to transfer effortless wealth to themselves. (see "Supernatural cancellation of debts - Is it really a supernatural transfer of wealth, a religious gimmick, or just a vain religious boasting?" in my previous post here.)
- Heb 10:16-17 LITV "This is the covenant which I will covenant to them after those days, says the Lord: Giving My Laws on their hearts, and I will write them on their minds;" (17) also He adds, "I will not at all still remember their sins" and their lawlessnesses. ..
- Heb 8:10 LITV Because this is the covenant which I will covenant with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord, giving My Laws into their mind, and I will write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people."
- Luk 19:8-10 LITV But standing, Zaccheus said to the Lord, Behold, Lord, half of my possessions I give to the poor. And if in anything I accused anyone falsely, I restore it fourfold. (9) And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, for he also is a son of Abraham. (10) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the one being lost.
If we do not want others to misunderstand us, tell others and ourselves not to have the 'rotten' attitude
They will argue, "Why do you think that it is a 'rotten' attitude ? On what basis do you think it is a 'rotten' attitude ? We do not think that it is a 'rotten' attitude if we desire, think, or become obsessed for the grace or the goodness of God before we could repent. After all, we believe that grace or the goodness of God will always lead us to repentance automatically. However, many preachers today have focused on repentance. They have put the cart before the horse. They have focused on the wrong thing. Obviously they are ignorant and they could be the Pharisees or law preachers who are against us and our preaching of grace. They could be under the law, under the danger, and the double curse of preaching the law and another gospel. Only the gospel that Paul preached or we preach is the true gospel. God told me in an audible voice and said, Son, you must preach more about grace, not repentance, because repentance or the old doctrine would have to go when the new has come .."
I will tell them, You asked, On what basis do you think it is a rotten attitude. I say, On the basis of what they have taught or done. Jesus told us that by their fruits we shall know them (Mat 7:15-22). Hence, rotten attitude will produce rotten fruits. You may ask what is their rotten attitude ? I will say, Although Jesus did not identify their rotten attitude, from their behaviour we can gather that they had the attitude and thinking that:
- they had 'effortless' favour, and so they do not need to do anything in repentance
- they had 'unlimited' grace, and so they can never be condemned even if they go around and behave like the hooligans in the parable Mat 18:21-34
- they can just think about 'effortless' favour and goodness of God and it will be well with them. It will lead them to repentance automatically without doing or showing any fruits of repentance. However, Jesus showed us that this is not always the case in His parable (Mat 18:21-34).
- they can just think about 'unlimited' grace and they can never fall. No, this is a lie. If thinking about God's grace can never be condemned, why was the servant who was misled by his own thinking condemned Mat 18:21-34 ? If all the believers would just need to think of God's abundant grace without taking heed to God's words and commandments, they would find contradiction when Paul gave them the warning or the possibility that they could fall, including himself:
Hence, I am not surprised to hear teaching which says that they must only preach the gospel that Paul preached. However, I know that they are actually trying to tell the people that they should listen to the 'gospel' that they preached, not the gospel that Jesus preached or Paul preached. I will tell them, No, the teaching, the warnings, and the gospel that Jesus preached is what we must still preach:
- 1Co 9:18-27 KJV What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel. (19) For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. .. (22) To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. (23) And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you. .. (26) I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: (27) But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
- Rom 12:3 KJV For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
- Act 20:28-31 KJV Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood. (29) For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. (30) Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. (31) Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears. (Please think, If believers can never fall, do you think it is necessary for Paul to warn the believers and pray for them with tears day and night ? Of course, it would not make sense for Paul and us to preach that the believers can never fall or abuse the grace of God too.)
- Paul confirmed that his warnings are for those who are purchased by the blood of Jesus and are in the churches (Act 20:28-31).
- Paul confirmed that he would obey gospel of Christ not his own gospel: Act 26:19-21 KJV Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: (20) But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance. (21) For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill me.
- Jesus confirmed it to Peter that he had to forgive others and should not behave like the 'rotten' servant who had received forgiveness and grace (Mat 18:21-34).
- Jesus confirmed it to all His disciples that they must preach all that He has commanded them: Mat 28:19-20 KJV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
- Luk 24:45-48 KJV Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, (46) And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: (47) And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (48) And ye are witnesses of these things.
How should God's people deal with misunderstanding or false accusations ?
The radical grace preachers will say, "No, you've all misunderstood us. Some of you are so jealous that you would falsely accuse us. Please understand, When I condemned those who preach many good works or 'do good get good' principles, I was only condemning the Pharisees or those who teach people to do many church works like they are doing the laws. Of course, I am not against doing Christ's works. Please check all our sermons. We have never condemned anyone who do good work in the Lord. We condemned only those who do not know how to do good work in the Lord or Christ's works, effortlessly like us. We condemn church work as dead work if it is done without Christ; not Christ's works !"
I will tell them, Oh, If we would really check your sermons, we would find tons of craps, oxymoron, contradiction, and radical philosophies. Please think, How do you divide or distinguish between what is church works and Christ's works, or between church work that is dead work and church work that is in the Lord ? How can you condemn anyone who did church works or judge his works, when you can never be the one who can tell whether he did it in the Lord or without the Lord ? Only the Lord can judge because only He has the full knowledge of what the person think in his heart.
So, how can you judge if there are many churches or believers doing church works or good works, with or without doing it for the Lord ? No, I would not go and condemn anyone who does church works or good works and condemn all of them as the 'Pharisees' or law preachers ! I would rather think that most of the churches who do many good works are doing it in the Lord, and we don't need to condemn anyone with the use of 'radical grace' or 'lawless revolution'. Otherwise, we would give the wrong impression to the ignorant and those who would not like to do any good works. The bottom line is: What are you trying to do when there are so many people who misunderstood your radical grace message or revolution ? Do you take advantage of the situation to increase your popularity and create more confusion, or do you repent and seek reconciliation and forgiveness from those whom you have wrongly accused by admitting wrong ? I leave it to you. I rest my case.
The more we receive grace, the more we should be fair and gracious to our fellow preachers too
As I have said in my previous posts on 'prosperity', I am not against preachers who are rich (I myself am rich also) but I am disgusted by preachers who lie about God's words, pervert God's commandments, and create Bible controversies, to 'prosper' or multiply on it. Most of us would now agree that 'radical grace' preachers are generally richer than the 'law' preachers or 'repentance' preachers. However, I believe that it is not because they are more favoured or more anointed than other preachers as they claimed; but it is because they have created many Bible controversies, do nothing controversies, law and grace controversies, no more future sins, no more God's commandments, no more obedience (but only Christ's obedience), no more confession of sins, no more conviction of sins, no more 'do good get good' principles, no more servanthood or works, no more repentance to God to do good and to do God's commandments .. but many more radical doctrines, revolution, and oxymoron which would never teach the young to do good and to build their characters. But when they have the 'fills of their mouth' and prosper, they will just revert back to teaching of many God's laws, God's principles, and God's commandments to do good, and will then turn back against all the churches who have misunderstood them and label the churches as the 'Pharisees' or the 'false accusers'. They would condemn the churches as the 'big brothers' or religious brothers who are jealous of them because they could receive 'better grace' and prosper more than the churches. They would persuade the people that they, being the prodigal son who sinned, are more blessed than the churches who keep God's commandments. It could be a brilliant idea but it is a bad idea. Why ?
It is because the Lord has prophesied that there would be 'prodigal son' who could receive grace and forgiveness but they might not have truly repented. They would think that they have received better grace (radical grace) and hence they can never be condemned if they sin (wilfully) against others. But they will ultimately lose everything:
- Mat 18:23-34 KJV .. (31) So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. (This warning is very similar to the warning given in Heb 10:26-29. So, how can you say that the Lord's warning and all His hardsayings are Old Testament teachings ?)
- 2Ti 3:1-10 KJV This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. (2) For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (3) Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (4) Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, (7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (8) Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. (9) But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. (10) But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
